This year, numerous new teachers joined the Wyomissing Area faculty as we said goodbye to retirees Nancylee Schlegel, Rose Sneeringer, Susan Derr, Sharon Luyben, and Mark Flannery. We will miss each of these teachers greatly, but are excited to welcome and get to know our new teachers!
Lynn Heffern is a behavior specialist at the Junior-Senior High School for grades 7-12. In her role, she offers support to students and staff members to help them be successful throughout the year. She has been working in education for the past four years at River Rock Academy, but this is her first year working within a public school. Outside the classroom, Mrs. Heffern enjoys spending time with her kids, running, and photography.
Eric Winson works in the Junior-Senior High School teaching U.S. History, Criminology, and Psychology to students in grades 9-12. This year will be his tenth year teaching! When he is not teaching, Mr. Winson enjoys spending time with his friends and family, where they go to the beach, travel, and play together at home. He also enjoys coaching soccer and baseball as well as reading.
Rochelle Towne teaches 8th and 10th grade English in the Junior-Senior High School. She has been a teacher for ten years, and before coming to Wyomissing Area she taught social studies on the Navajo Nation Reservation, and social studies and English at Boyertown Area High School. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, ages five and two. Her family loves football— especially the Eagles—as well as reading and keeping up on the news each day.
Daniel Bratton is a social studies teacher at the Junior-Senior High School teaching predominantly junior-high courses. This year is his seventeenth year teaching. Outside the classroom, Mr. Bratton coaches his children in various youth sports and enjoys traveling with his family. He is an avid Penn State and Eagles football fan and is really good at being a bad golfer.
Susan (Sue) Wojciechowski, also known as Mrs. Wojo by her students, is a 3rd-grade teacher at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center. As an elementary teacher, she is a master in every subject: math, writing, grammar, spelling, science, and social studies. This is Mrs. Wojciechowski’s thirteenth year teaching, but only her first year at Wyomissing Area. She previously taught in the Wilson School District for over a decade. Her family enjoys spending time at the beach in the summer, as well as traveling to Penn State for football in the fall. Mrs. Wojciechowski’s favorite activity is organizing; however, due to her busy schedule, she does not get to it every day. She and her family live in Wyomissing, and can often be seen around the District supporting the Spartans.
Melissa Kramer is a part-time school counselor at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center and teaches guidance lessons to all of the 4th-grade students. Ms. Kramer graduated from Villanova in 2018 with a master’s degree in school counseling and is beginning her second year of teaching. She enjoys spending her free time hiking with her dog, listening to true-crime podcasts, and baking for her family.
Erin Krim is a special education teacher at the Junior-Senior High School. She teaches a variety of reading and writing courses for students in grades 7-11 and has been teaching for eight years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Alexandra Preston—soon to be Alexandra Previti—is a part-time English teacher at the Junior-Senior High School. She currently teaches 8th grade and is in her third year teaching. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family. She enjoys baking most especially cakes and chocolate chip cookies.
Nathan Patton teaches all levels of the chorus in the Junior-Senior High School as well as 7th grade music class, and this will be his second year teaching. Outside the classroom, Mr. Patton spends his time directing music and playing for shows at a local community theater, 1st Street Players. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the theater as well. When he is not directing, you can find him attending as many concerts and shows as possible and performing music whenever he can.
In addition to these wonderful additions to our faculty, we are so grateful to welcome numerous long-term substitutes and various support staff to the District. We are so happy to have them all here, and are excited to work together!
