December 23, 2020
Good Morning WASD
Staff,
As of December
31, 2020, the Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) is set to
expire. With no renewal of the Act proposed in the new stimulus package
that was passed by Congress this week (December 21, 2020), the following leave
time will no longer be provided:
- Two
weeks (up to 80 hours) of paid sick leave for employees that are
quarantined or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and seeking medical
diagnosis
- Two
weeks (up to 80 hours) of paid sick leave (2/3 of employee regular rate)
for the care of individuals subject to quarantine or are for a child under
18 whose school or child care provided is closed or unavailable due to
COVID-19
- The
addition of up to 10 weeks of paid expanded family medical leave for child
care
As of January 1,
2021, if an employee must take leave for the above reasons, the employees
accrued benefit time must be used. The District will no longer provide
the emergency paid sick leave for all employees.
Please note that
employees are required to be working in the building the week of January 4
through January 8, 2021. This also includes all subsequent
weeks. We feel that our educational product is stronger and best
provided when our teachers and staff are on campus. If prior approval has
been granted to work from home on Wednesdays, it will be honored for Wednesday,
January 6, 2021.
Please do not
hesitate to contact Deb Weise, Charmaine Beck, or myself if there are any
questions.
Have a great
Holiday Season,
Mark
