Wyomissing Area Students Contribute to Reading's New Mural

A new Hope Blossoms mural has sprouted on Franklin Street in Reading. October 21 marked the official dedication of the mural which resembles persons experiencing mental health challenges as well as those who have been affected by or contemplated suicide.
The mural is also a token of gratitude to first responders who dedicate their time to aid those who face these mental health challenges. Physically, the “HOPE” is highlighted with neon colors as it shows a beacon of hope to all those who gaze upon it.
Retired Wyomissing Area teacher and artist for the project Mike Miller expressed, “I think what has made this such a memorable mural for me was my apprehension about accepting the project...it's enormous! As my life has changed in the past year, I was able to complete this artwork, despite my initial doubts. It has been such a delight to bring this project to hundreds of Berks County citizens and allow them to participate in the creation. I hope everyone who has helped with this mural feels that ownership and connection to this painting and its message.” Along with Mr. Miller, students from the Wyomissing Area High School and other volunteers have worked to construct this mural that now stands proudly lighting up the city of Reading.
