PROGRAMS OF STUDY

Program of Studies

The Wyomissing Area School District has developed course and/or grade level programs of study for grades K-12. These programs contain state and nationally aligned curricula, a variety of technology used for instructional delivery, and several different program sequences. Within the various curricula, provisions are made for enriching, extending, and modifying the classroom experience to meet individual student needs.

In order to help meet the needs of all students and to provide a well-rounded program, numerous learning opportunities are available:

  • Physical education, art, music, library services and instruction, guidance counselor services, response to instruction and intervention programs, STEAM education, special education services and supports and enrichment programs.

    Federal funds are used to support part of the cost of the reading and math intervention programs, English Language Learner support, teacher training and parent involvement opportunities. The District has developed a Title I Parent Involvement Policy. This policy is available in the Wyomissing Hills and West Reading Elementary Centers, the District office, and on the website District Website under "Policies."

  • Physical education, health, art, music, technology education, family and consumer sciences, library services and instruction, full-time counseling services, special education services and support, world language and Latin study, STEAM education, computer applications, accelerated mathematics programs, strategic and remedial math and language arts instruction and support, and a response to instruction and intervention (RTII) approach toward academic proficiency.
     

  • Business Education, career technical education via Berks Career and Technology Center, Honors and Advanced Placement, STEAM education, special education services and support, career awareness and exploration, library service and instruction, world language and Latin study, a full range of guidance services, and strategic and remedial math and language arts instruction and support.

  • Parents may request to:

    1) review curriculum and instructional materials;

    2) review surveys/ request that their child not participate in surveys conducted by outside organizations; and

    3) have their child's name not be released to military recruiters without prior parent consent. If parents wish to exercise any of the rights listed above, they should send their request in writing to the building principal.
